New Season. New Sound.

The West Coast Gospel sound can best be described as a combination of style of worship that is inspired and influence from the traditional gospel in The South, however, has open arms and inspirations from the style of music all over the world. VIVE Worship’s main songwriters come from or are based from California, but the inspiration and homage to worship music comes from what we grew up with in the traditional gospel sound. Which is why the songs range from New Age Gospel, Afrobeats, to more traditional worship ballads.

We wanted this project to capture the various styles of music that is coming out of VIVE Church, while holistically capturing the theme and message of the gospel. With tracks inspired from Romans, Philippians, Revelation, and many more, we are so excited to release the West Coast Gospel EP and in hand releasing the West Coast Gospel sound.

  • “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

    — Matthew 18;20

  • What does revival look like? What does revival sound like? What does it require?

    We can easily declare that we are in the midst of revival, but what does that really mean for the body of Christ? Revival is the increased gatherings of the saints, but it’s also the transformation of souls. This is why the gathering of the church and burst in church growth can be signs of revival, but the transformation that takes place is what truly affects generations to come.

  • “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

    — Ephesians 2:9

  • We’ve been given a grace that is beyond all measure. The grace and mercy we have received is not one that we could ever earn by our doing, but our lives are still a testimony of the grace we have received. You see, faith is not just an internal belief, it is an external proclamation. This is why in this song we declare that we cannot stay quiet about the mercy we receive, this is why we can’t help but to Thank Christ for all He’s done.

    Where has our faith gone silent? Where has your thankfulness fallen short? Because His mercy and goodness is never ending, so our response should also be a never ending praise.

  • He was despised and rejected by men,
        a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
    and as one from whom men hide their faces
        he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

    Surely he has borne our griefs
        and carried our sorrows;
    yet we esteemed him stricken,
        smitten by God, and afflicted.
    But he was pierced for our transgressions;
        he was crushed for our iniquities;
    upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
        and with his wounds we are healed.
    All we like sheep have gone astray;
        we have turned—every one—to his own way;
    and the Lord has laid on him
        the iniquity of us all.

    He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
        yet he opened not his mouth;
    like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
        and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
        so he opened not his mouth.
    By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
        and as for his generation, who considered
    that he was cut off out of the land of the living,
        stricken for the transgression of my people?
    And they made his grave with the wicked
        and with a rich man in his death,
    although he had done no violence,
        and there was no deceit in his mouth.

    10 Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;
        he has put him to grief
    when his soul makes an offering for guilt,
        he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
    the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
    11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;
    by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,
        make many to be accounted righteous,
        and he shall bear their iniquities.
    12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,
        and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,
    because he poured out his soul to death
        and was numbered with the transgressors;
    yet he bore the sin of many,
        and makes intercession for the transgressors.
    - Isaiah 53:3-12

  • The Son of God made Himself humble. He allowed himself to be despised by men, rejected by those who unknowingly awaited him, and took on the transgressions of which did not belong to him. At first glance at the harsh truth embedded in these scriptures, our souls might weigh heavy when we really weigh the burden of our sins. However, Christ came to allow us the grace to feel the exact opposite. He was the lamb of God, given in our place, to grant us freedom, life and union restored with God. This is why this song was written with so much hope in the chorus. Jesus Our Lord is our declaration of faith. This is why the worship of His name is never ending. All blessing, all honor and all praise should be given to Jesus Our Lord.

  • “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

    — Romans 8:27

  • Now THIS is what victory sounds like. We wrote this song of victory to be a song of praise because through Christ, we are more than overcomes. However, this is not just the song to sing after the battle is over, this is the declaration needed throughout every step of the hardship.
    What enemy is trying to come against you? Because our God is matchless in wonder.
    Why would we dare believe victory is not just a season? It’s a style in which we clothes ourselves in daily.
    Christ has spoken victory over you when you claimed him as your Lord and Savior, so it’s time to live like we are fully free!
